Liz Cochran, a 20-year-old resident of Helena, was crowned Miss Hoover 2009 on August 9, 2008 at Spain Park High School Auditorium. In addition to capturing the title, she also won the talent award as well as the Jessica Headley Community Service Award. She performed a jazz/lyrical dance to 'He Lives In You' from the hit Broadway musical The Lion King. Liz is a junior at Birmingham-Southern College majoring in dance and is the daughter of Phil & Laura Cochran. In addition to her work with Children's Miracle Network, she has a platform entitled 'With Every Beat' that focuses on cardiovascular disease prevention. She will be representing the city of Hoover at the 2009 Miss Alabama Pageant to be held in June 2009 at Samford University's Wright Center.
